Organically Grown & Pastured

Riverdog Farm is a 450 acre certified organic, diversified family farm that grows vegetables, fruits, nuts, and raises chickens and pigs. We are located in the beautiful Capay Valley where rich creek-bottom soil, intense summer heat, and winter frost make exceptionally tasty fruits and vegetables.

Since 1990 we have used a system of compost, crop rotation, cover cropping and hedgerow planting to keep our soil healthy and to promote a healthy ecosystem around our farm. Our philosophy is that by taking care of our employees, land, and animals, we are helping to create a food system that is better for everyone—and one that tastes better too!

Member FAQs

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START/END?

Our season runs year-round!

HOW DOES PICK UP WORK?

Your CSA box is delivered weekly to one of our many pick-up sites throughout Napa, Lake, Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, Alameda, Contra Coasta counties and San Francisco. You pick up the CSA box at your host site during designated hours. Simply show up, sign your name on the sign in sheet, grab a box and be on your way!

HOW DO I ORDER EACH WEEK?

We‘ll text you 48 hours before we harvest, and you'll have until your order cutoff time to add extras to your order, or to notify us if you need to skip the week's share. And speaking of skip...

WHAT IF I GO ON VACATION/HAVE TO SKIP A WEEK?

While we'd never advise skipping your veggies, we understand that life gets busy! Every week, you'll receive a text message alert when our harvest starts, with the option to “skip” to opt out of the week's order at no charge (full season members will receive a full week's credit to use on a future order).

‍For Frog Hollow Fruit Shares: Due to the logistics of getting the fruit boxes from Frog Hollow Farm, delivery holds cancellations on the fruit boxes (for any day in the following week) need to be entered by Sunday at NOON. If you enter a hold anytime after that, we can cancel delivery of the box, but you will still be charged.

How will I know what’s coming up in my share?

Our weekly newsletter is sent a few days before pick up, so you’ll know what we’re harvesting (and what recipes to use!). Else, you can expect to hear from us primarily through SMS/Text Message. We’ll text you before we harvest with the option to shop add-ons, or skip the week’s order at no charge. Make sure to save us in your contacts–we’ll text you again when your order is ready!

Member Tips & Resources

Preserving Your PRoduce

We get it—bringing home a box bursting with fresh, unfamiliar produce can be a bit overwhelming. No worries! Consider us your culinary compass, steering you with fresh recipes and tips.

‍

Storage Tips:

‍

We harvest our produce at its prime, ensuring peak freshness and longevity compared to grocery store counterparts. Follow these tried and true tips to make that farm-fresh flavor last:

  • Get your farm box to a cool location ASAP. Nothing ruins fresh produce faster than the hot sun! If you’re out running errands, we recommend making the farm your last stop to avoid spoilage. If you get delivery, please be sure you have a shady spot for us to leave your box.
  • Take the tops off your carrots and beets right away when you get home to preserve freshness.
  • Wash, dry, and store your greens in a bag (our favorites here!) with some wet paper towels and place in the fridge.

Remember to thoroughly wash all produce before consuming!

Kitchen Tools & Gadgets

Level up from CSA Member to CSA Master with tools and gadgets handpicked to help you maximize the enjoyment of your farm box.

  • Salad spinner: Quickly clean and dry CSA produce, saving time and ensuring freshness. Efficient, convenient, and enhances longevity.
  • Good kitchen knives, along with a knife sharpener (or local business who sharpens knives!).
  • Reusable glass containers and mason jars to keep your food as farm-fresh as possible.
  • Sheet pans for roasting delicious veggies!
  • Food processor: The one “big-ticket” item we recommend. Use it for making salsa, pesto, pizza dough, and pureeing items like soups and sauces.

CSA Policies

REFUNDS & RETURNS

  • A 10% fee applies to all refunds
  • Riverdog will not give refunds on any missing items/quality issues for any pickups made the day after delivery day. CSA site hosts may donate any unclaimed items no sooner than 24 hours after the original pick up day and time of 3pm. After 24 hours (3pm following the day of original pickup time) unclaimed/forgotten orders may no longer be available and the subscriber absorbs the subscription cost for that week’s order.
  • All missing items/quality issues must be emailed within 24 hours of pick day and time for refund consideration. Any quality issues should be accompanied with a photo
  • We do not reclaim produce, eggs or meat. Once your box is delivered, the amount is charged for delivery regardless of pickup. We do not credit accounts for missed pickups. Please pick up your box on the delivery day within the specified pick up time. If you need to cancel your account, send an email to csa@riverdogfarm.com and you will get a confirmation of your cancellation. This will ensure the cancellation of your account and your credit card will be taken off automatic payments.

‍

PICKUP

  • Please initial by your name in the column provided on the sign out sheet at the pick-up site.
  • The Riverdog CSA contents are the same; once you have signed the sign out sheet, simply pick a box. If you do not see you name on any of the sign out pages, we did not deliver a box for you. Do not take a box, as this would create a shortage. Please contact the farm to sort out any confusion.
  • If you ordered eggs: Eggs can be found in a box separate from the CSA boxes. Only take eggs if your egg subscription is listed next to your name on the sign out sheet and your name is printed on the egg sheet. If you don't see "Eggs" next to your name on the sign out sheet, and you ordered eggs, please contact the farm as soon as possible to sort out any confusion.
  • Your CSA account will have the most up-to-date information such as your next delivery from our farm and your account balance.
  • Please pick up your CSA order on your delivery day so that it stays fresh and we can ensure quality.
  • We reuse our grey, plastic totes, so please return them! They help reduce our waste on the farm and your waste in the city, so we appreciate your help to keep them in circulation. Please take the box home and bring it back the following week.
  • Sometimes we use wax cardboard boxes when we run out of grey totes, we reuse these too, so please bring them back to your pick-up site! When leaving the empty cardboard boxes at the site, collapse the box flat by slipping out the notches on the bottom side. Delivery drivers and site hosts have a warm place in their hearts for subscribers who stack the collapsed boxes and help keep the pickup site neat and tidy.

‍

  • EARLY subscription that needs to end early will be charged at the $30 box price for boxes already delivered (not to exceed the original purchase price) and the balance may be refunded back to the card of original purchase or a check will be sent to the Member.
  • MONTHLY subscribers –Please finish your subscription commitment. If your balance does not reach $0, then the remaining amount – below $29 - may be refunded back to the credit card or in the form of a check. You can also choose to donate your remainder to the farm. When your balance reaches $0, then you have fulfilled your subscription commitment and your account will automatically go to “permanent hold” status.
  • You are able to re-subscribe at any time. Subscribers who are set up for recurring payments need to turn off recurring payments in order to make any cancellations to your account. You must do this on your account before the last delivery is made.
  • PLEASE note if your subscription has recurring payments as this can affect the amount of deliveries you are expected to receive. Such as; 4 week delivery plans with some months having 5 weeks.
  • Your subscriptions and pre-payments are greatly appreciated. To make this CSA program successful, we count on your advance payment to plan our seed ordering, planting seasons and harvest amounts.
  • To ensure that your subscription continues uninterrupted, please make sure your payment is up current on your CSA account. You may also put your account on a DELIVERY HOLD if you will be gone for 1 delivery or periods of time. Your balance will be the same when you return.
  • All vegetable boxes and webstore orders will be put on a Permanent Hold when your account balance reaches $29 or below, until payment is received. Please allow up to 48 hours for your payment to process and your status to become active again.
  • To ensure that your subscription continues uninterrupted, please make sure your payment is up current on your CSA account. You may also put your account on a DELIVERY HOLD if you will be gone for 1 delivery or periods of time. Your balance will be the same when you return.‍
