The Porch Partners’ Guide to Hosting a Pickup Site

📣 Welcome, Porch Partner!
Hi there,
We’re so glad you’re here.
Porch Hosts play such an important role in helping connect our community to fresh, local food. Every pickup hosted, every conversation shared, and every neighbor introduced to Riverdog Farm helps strengthen our local food system in a meaningful way.
We’re grateful to have you as part of the Riverdog Farm community, and we want the Porch Host experience to feel simple, supportive, and rewarding. Your role is primarily to provide a pickup location for members, help check in on any missed pickups, and ensure any leftover boxes are donated when needed. We also ask that sign-in sheets stay available for drivers to collect during the next delivery.
As we continue growing the CSA program, we’ve been listening closely to feedback from both members and hosts. This year, members shared that flexibility, communication, and variety are especially important to them. In response, we’ve started sharing forecasted box contents earlier in the week and removed minimums on vegetable add-ons to give members more flexibility.
We’ve also heard how valuable word-of-mouth has been for our community. Many members join because a friend, family member, or Porch Host recommended Riverdog Farm. To help support that, our newsletters now include referral discounts and shareable resources to make spreading the word easier.
Hosts have also shared thoughtful feedback about the member experience, from excitement around box variety to ideas for improving events like our Pumpkin Party. We truly appreciate hearing from you and value having Porch Hosts involved in the ongoing growth of the CSA program.
Thank you again for being part of this community and for helping local food reach more families each season. We’re excited for the season ahead and grateful to grow alongside you.
If you ever have questions, feedback, or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

🥬 Porch Partner Rewards & Responsibilities
Porch Hosts eat free as a thank you for volunteering your home for the community!
Your Role in Supporting Local Food & Community
With great rewards comes great responsibility. Being a Porch Partner means you’re agreeing to the following when you host a pickup site:
🧹 Site Check
Make sure your pickup area is clean, safe, and accessible on pickup days. In bad weather, ensure boxes are covered or under shelter if possible.
📋 Box Check & Grace Period Support
At the end of each pickup day, check if any boxes are left behind. Send a quick message to Farmhand with a list of members who still need to pick up (they’ll send out a reminder on your behalf).
🚪 Help Members Feel Welcome
Occasionally, new CSA members may ring your doorbell or knock because they’re confused about where to find their box. A friendly wave, pointing them to the right spot, or a quick explanation goes a long way.
💬 Communication & Feedback
Let Riverdog or Farmhand know if anything comes up—missed deliveries, concerns about quality, or if your availability ever changes. We’re here to support you, and keeping the communication open helps make the CSA better for everyone.
🏘️ Your Flyer & Print Assets
Print and post it in high-traffic, local places.
💡 Please make sure you have proper permission before posting flyers and print assets
