Field Notes: The greenhouses are full to the gills with seedlings. We are filling trays with seeds and cycling full size transplants out of the greenhouse onto tables outside to harden, which is necessary to help the transplants adapt to outdoor conditions. When the next dry window happens, when the soil is actually dry enough for the rototiller to prepare the beds in the field, there will be a transplanting frenzy of kale, lettuce, spring onions and cabbage. In the next few weeks we can look forward to asparagus, cauliflower and more lettuce to make delicious salads. Speaking of salads, tomato planting is coming soon! More to come on that later…
Box Notes: Mandarins from Gold Oak Ranch are CCOF certified organic and are back for this week’s veggie box.
You can also order Blue Heron navel oranges from the webstore: https://csa.farmigo.com/store/riverdogfarmcsa. 10 lbs. for $20 or 20 lbs. for $40! Place your order soon. These sweet oranges are going fast.
