Farm Notes:

Hello Folks,
Due to high temperatures this week we are irrigating heavily. It has been very odd to see these temperatures this time of the year but not much we can do there. Thankfully, temperatures will drop back to the 70's after this weekend. We will continue to have several pints of Cherry Tomatoes, Melons will be available for a few more weeks and Baby Arugula is making its way into our farmers market this weekend. You will most likely see this product in your box next week!
Other Notes:
On Monday, our Market team enjoyed a fantastic farm-to-table dinner at Bombera in Oakland, hosted by chef and owner, Domenica Rice. Using our very own produce, she created a truly delicious meal! I would highly recommend giving her place a try! (Bombera is a Michelin-recognized gem that I highly recommend.)
At the dinner, I had time to reflect on how fortunate we are to have such great camaraderie and pride in working for this farm. Of course, none of these special moments would happen without our wonderful customers—thank you for making it all possible!
Thank you,
Evelyn Cordova

Exciting/New in your box this week:
Bok Choy:
Mild, fresh, and slightly sweet with a crisp, juicy crunch. The tender leaves cook quickly while the stems stay crunchy. Great stir-fried with garlic and ginger, or added to soups and noodle dishes. It can also be eaten raw in salads or slaws!
Collard Greens:
Earthy and slightly bitter when raw, but they mellow out and become tender and savory when cooked. Great in soups, stews, casseroles, omelets, pasta, or braised dishes. They can also be eaten raw in salads or slaws.
Bella Roja Potatoes:
Thin-skinned with a creamy, buttery flesh. Great roasted, sautéed, or tossed into potato salads. Their thin skin gets nice and crispy when roasted, so no need to peel them!
Sharlyn Melon:
Sweet, juicy, and fragrant with a light, refreshing flavor. Lands somewhere between a honeydew and cantaloupe. It’s perfect chilled, added to fruit salads, or blended into smoothies/aguas frescas.
OR Yellow Canary Melon:
Sweet, juicy, and refreshing with a flavor similar to a pear. Delicious sliced and eaten chilled, or paired with prosciutto and fresh basil.
Dark Belle Watermelon:
Sweet, juicy, and refreshing with a crisp texture. Delicious eaten chilled, blended into agua fresca, or added to fruit salads.
Early Girl Tomatoes:
A classic everyday tomato with a balanced sweet-tart flavor and juicy texture. Perfect for slicing into sandwiches, adding to salads, or roasting.
Heirloom Tomatoes:
Heirloom tomatoes are grown for flavor rather than uniformity, so they come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors! Their soft texture and rich, complex flavor make them especially delicious fresh with a sprinkle of salt, layered on toast, or used in summer salads like Tomato & Halloumi Panzanella.
The Annual Pumpkin Party

It’s that time of year again! Join us for an afternoon at the farm. We’re having a relaxed, potluck-style picnic followed by a tour of the farm, pumpkin picking, and a few other activities for the kids! This event is free for our CSA members and their guests, so feel free to bring your family and friends!
Please RSVP so we can get an idea of how many people will be joining us. We hope to see you there!
Check out our Instagram @riverdogfarm where we share images of the crops, farming, re-posts of your farm fixings photos and videos and provide market/CSA updates!
